What Is New on the 2026 Honda HR-V?

The subcompact SUV segment is poised for a notable update as Honda prepares to introduce the 2026 HR-V. Building upon the second-generation platform launched in 2023, the forthcoming model is expected to offer incremental enhancements in performance, technology, and safety, while maintaining its position as an accessible entry point into Honda's SUV lineup.

Refined, Not Reinvented

From the outside, the 2026 HR-V remains largely unchanged. However, a few stylistic tweaks lend the SUV a refreshed look: two new paint options—Solar Reflection Metallic and Boost Blue Pearl—have been added to the color palette, the former available on LX and EX-L trims and the latter exclusive to the Sport. All three trims receive updated wheel designs, and the Sport model gets black tailgate badging for a more assertive aesthetic.

Performance and Powertrain

The 2026 HR-V is anticipated to retain its 2.0-liter inline-four engine, delivering 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive will remain standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option. Fuel economy estimates are projected at 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway for FWD models, and 25/30 mpg for AWD variants.

Interior and Technology

The cabin upgrades are where the 2026 HR-V begins to set itself apart. The centerpiece of the interior is a new 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, two inches larger than the previous unit, with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional interior refinements include new front footwell lightingsilver steering-wheel spokes, and an updated climate-control knob exclusive to the EX-L trimPrivacy rear glass now comes standard across the lineup.

Pricing and Trims

Prices for the 2026 HR-V see a slight increase but remain competitive within the segment. The front-wheel-drive LX now starts at $27,595, up from $26,795. The Sport trim begins at $29,395, while the fully equipped EX-L starts at $31,445All-wheel drive remains a $1,500 upgrade for each trim, bringing the AWD EX-L to a top-end price of $32,945. Despite the incremental cost increase, Honda believes the updates enhance the HR-V’s value proposition
