The All-New 2027 Toyota Highlander
Toyota has reimagined one of the most popular midsize SUVs in America for 2027, and the results are stunning. The all-new 2027 Toyota Highlander combines head-turning design, elevated comfort, cutting-edge technology, and an all-electric powertrain to deliver a next-generation SUV that’s built for families—and for the future.
A Bold, Modern Design
The 2027 Highlander immediately stands out with its sleek, aerodynamic profile. Designers have emphasized clean lines, broad fenders, and flush door handles for a modern, confident stance. The full-length LED daytime running lights and geometric front bumper give it a sophisticated, high-tech look.
At 67.3 inches tall, 78.3 inches wide, and with a 120.1-inch wheelbase, the new Highlander is both wider and longer than its predecessor, providing a planted road presence while maximizing interior space. A panoramic fixed-glass roof—the largest in Toyota’s lineup—adds an airy, open feeling to the cabin, perfect for long drives with the whole family.
Available exterior colors include the all-new Spellbound, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, Everest, Reservoir Blue, and Midnight Black Metallic, with two-tone options pairing select colors with a black roof for added flair.
Spacious, Tech-Forward Interior
Inside, the Highlander blends comfort, functionality, and technology. With three rows of seating for up to seven passengers, SofTex-trimmed seats, heated front seats, and optional ventilated front and heated second-row seats, the cabin is designed for family comfort. The third row folds flat to provide over 45 cubic feet of cargo space, making it easy to carry gear for road trips or weekend adventures.
Tech enthusiasts will appreciate the 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, customizable ambient lighting with 64 color options, dual Qi wireless charging trays, and multiple USB-C ports throughout the cabin. Additional conveniences like rear window shades, a hands-free power liftgate, and clever storage solutions ensure that both driver and passengers can stay organized and connected.
All-Electric Powertrain
The 2027 Highlander marks Toyota’s first three-row battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in the U.S., and the fourth BEV in Toyota’s lineup. Available in XLE and Limited grades, the Highlander offers front- or all-wheel drive, with AWD models powered by a 95.8-kWh battery delivering an estimated 320-mile total driving range.
Performance is impressive for a family SUV: AWD models offer 338 net combined system horsepower and 323 lb.-ft. of torque, while FWD models provide 221 horsepower and 198 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers will enjoy instant torque, a low center of gravity, and a quiet, smooth ride—hallmarks of Toyota’s BEV engineering.
For added versatility, the Highlander includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing it to power external devices or even serve as a backup energy source during emergencies. Charging is easy and flexible with the North American Charging System (NACS) port, compatible with thousands of DC fast-charging stations across the U.S. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
Advanced Safety and Convenience
Toyota continues its commitment to safety with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 (TSS 4.0), including features like:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
- Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
- Lane Tracing Assist and Road Sign Assist
- Automatic High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist
In addition, the Highlander comes standard with Toyota’s Star Safety System, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, rear seat reminder, and an optional Panoramic View Monitor and Advanced Park system.
Smart Connectivity
The 2027 Highlander offers Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system, with AT&T 5G connectivity, customizable home screen widgets, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and simultaneous dual Bluetooth® phone connectivity. Integrated streaming via Spotify® and SiriusXM® 360L® keeps passengers entertained, while features like Drive Recorder capture dashcam-style footage for added security.
Toyota’s suite of Connected Services allows owners to remotely monitor and manage charging, navigate efficiently, and stay connected with their vehicle through the Toyota mobile app.
Built in America, Ready for the Road
The new Highlander is assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, with batteries produced in the U.S. at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina. Toyota plans to begin sales in late 2026, continuing into early 2027, marking a new chapter in the Highlander’s 25-year history as a family favorite.
