2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition: A Bold Step Into Adventure at SEMA 2025
At this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Toyota didn’t just bring another concept SUV—they brought a statement. Meet the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition, a rugged reimagining of Toyota’s popular compact crossover, transformed for the trail without losing its urban-friendly roots.
From City Streets to Mountain Peaks
Drawing inspiration from Japan’s Mt. Nasu, a haven for hiking, hot springs, and outdoor adventure, the Nasu Edition embodies a spirit of exploration. But there’s more behind the name: “nasu” also means “to achieve” in Japanese—a fitting mantra for a build that pushes the Corolla Cross far beyond what most expect from a hybrid crossover.
Toyota’s Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team led the charge, utilizing CAD design, 3D printing, CNC machining, and hands-on assembly to create a concept that isn’t just for show—it’s designed for real adventure. All of this, while juggling hundreds of other accessory development programs, speaks to the passion behind the build.
Purpose-Driven Modifications
Underneath the eye-catching exterior, the Nasu Edition retains the efficient hybrid powertrain of the standard 2026 Corolla Cross—a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with three electric motors, delivering a combined 196 horsepower and confident all-wheel drive. But it’s what’s wrapped around that drivetrain that steals the spotlight.
Key upgrades include:
- Custom Toyota truck wheels with Toyo Open Country A/T III all-terrain tires
- Suspension lift for greater ground clearance and off-road presence
- One-off body kit with a modified hood scoop for added aggression
- Unique purple wrap, referencing the Japanese word for eggplant (nasu) and giving it an unmistakable identity
Built for Overlanding and Beyond
The Nasu Edition isn’t just lifted and wrapped—it’s equipped to get out there and stay there. Rock sliders, a cargo basket, and a modified articulating roof rack create a robust overlanding platform. Open the tailgate, and you’ll find a custom drawer system and a slide-out refrigerator, offering practical solutions for extended backcountry excursions.
Lighting was another major focus, with:
- Modified Toyota lightbars and fog lamps for serious illumination
- Custom illuminated door sills, puddle lamps, and cargo sills adding flair and visibility inside and out
And speaking of the interior, the cabin has been subtly transformed with thoughtful upgrades that align with the vehicle’s outdoorsy mission—bringing function and form into harmony.
A Mountain Bike Champion’s Touch
Perhaps the coolest nod to the adventurous lifestyle? A custom downhill mountain bike, secured on the roof rack, serves as an homage to Asa Vermette, the downhill prodigy and Junior World Champion. It’s a subtle but meaningful connection to the outdoor community Toyota is speaking to—those who live for the next trailhead.
Pushing the Limits of What’s Possible
“The Corolla Cross is one of the most versatile vehicles in our lineup, and the Nasu Edition shows how much further it can go,” said Steve Park, senior product planner for Toyota and Lexus Vehicle Accessories. And it’s true—Toyota is proving that the spirit of adventure isn’t just reserved for body-on-frame trucks or massive off-road SUVs.
With the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition, Toyota sends a clear message: adventure is for everyone. Whether you’re navigating city streets or carving your own path up a mountain, this concept proves you can have efficiency, practicality, and rugged capability in one package.
See It at SEMA
The Nasu Edition is on display at the Toyota booth (Central Hall, Booth 22200) at the 2025 SEMA Show from November 4–7. It’s one of more than two dozen bold builds under this year’s Toyota theme, Powered by Possibility, spotlighting innovation across gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, BEV, and fuel cell platforms.
Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a hardcore overlander, or just someone who dreams of getting off the beaten path, the Corolla Cross Nasu Edition invites you to go further—and to achieve more.
