Cyber Security Best Practices

At Diehl Automotive, we're making it easy to do business online with zero-contact. Our team is utilizing digital forms of communication to help keep you informed from the safety of your own home. With many businesses moving in this direction, it's more important than ever to make sure you're aware of criminals that are trying to take advantage of the pandemic. Our IT department is vigilant about getting out information about the latest threats to our team and we want to extend their advice to you.

Best Practices

  • Check the email address of the sender
    • Hackers are getting tricky. There are ways to disguise a phishing e-mail address and make it appear to be sent from someone you trust. Click the hyperlink of the sender's email address to reveal the actual email address. If it comes from an address other than '@diehlauto.com', the sender is not Diehl Automotive.
  • Be careful when providing personal information
    • We're relying on the services offered on our website more than ever. However, these services have been available for years. If you complete an online credit application, for example, and you receive an e-mail that seems to be from Diehl Automotive asking for your social security number, it's not from us. We recommend giving your contact at the dealership a call and verifying that they received your application and letting them know you received this e-mail so we can get it reported.
  • Call your contact at Diehl Automotive
    • If you're worried that you may have received a phishing e-mail, don't panic. Give us a call and we'll let you know if the e-mail came from our team or a third party we work with.
  • If you gave sensitive information, don't panic
    • Cybercriminals are smart and they do get the best of people sometimes. If you believe you sent sensitive information (such as a password) to a cybercriminal, we recommend immediately changing your credentials associated with the information you provided.
  • If you see a scam, report it
    • If you see a scam, give our team a call to let us know. We'll report it to the proper authorities so we can protect future customers from receiving the same scam.
